2 Pounds asparagus
1/3 Cup soy sauce
4 Teaspoons light brown sugar
1 Tablespoon honey
1 Teaspoon ground ginger
1 Teaspoon crushed or minced garlic (1 large garlic clove)
1 Teaspoon sesame seeds
1 Teaspoon sesame seed oil
Make teriyaki sauce. Combine the following in a small mixing bowl: 1 Cup water, soy sauce, light brown sugar and honey. Remove the skin from the ginger and finely mince. Crush or finely mince garlic. Stir in sesame seed oil and sesame seeds.
Trim tough ends off asparagus. Place spears in deep skillet. Pour teriyaki sauce over spears. Cover pan and put heat just over medium. Simmer hard for five minutes. Taste to see if cooked. If done, remover from stove. If not, simmer for another minute or two until done.
The cooking time depends on the thickness and freshness of the asparagus.
