½ Pound of the best burger you can afford at the time
1/3 Cup minced onion
¼ Cup of stale bread turned into breadcrumbs
1 Teaspoon salt
½ Teaspoon black pepper
½ Teaspoon garlic salt
Serving Suggestion: Accompany with canned corn, dried mashed potatoes and beef gravy
Mince the onion. Turn the bread into breadcrumbs. Mix the onion and breadcrumbs and egg into the hamburger using your hand or a big spoon. You can wear a glove to make clean-up easier. Divide the mix into two meatloaf burgers.
Preheat your frying pan over medium heat for one minute. Add salt, pepper and garlic salt to taste. (You can add more at the table.) Grill until the juice runs to the top, then flip them. Cooking times will depend on your grill and the thickness of your meatloaf burgers but, generally, it should take 5-7 minutes per side. After the initial grilling for each side, grill the meatloaf burgers five more minutes. They should be cooked all the way through – no red meat – when they’re done and ready to serve.
