RECIPE
Ingredients:
1 Foot-long segment of crispy baguette (French bread is fine but you might have to double garlic/butter/salt mix to cover surface.)
3 Tablespoons butter
1 Head garlic
1/2 Teaspoons salt
Instructions:
Cut the baguette in half lengthwise. Place butter in small saucepan. Crush whole head of garlic into butter. Add salt. Melt butter into garlic and salt over just over 1/4 heat. Remove from stove when butter is melted. Do not simmer. Spread butter/garlic/salt mix evenly over the surface of the two baguette halves.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees with the wire rack in the middle position. Place bread in oven for 5-7 minutes until lightly toasted. Switch to oven to broil and broil for 3 minutes until top is lightly brown and crispy looking. DO NOT leave the oven unattended as the broiler can quickly burn the bread. Remove from oven and cut into small slices.
