RECIPE:
Plant-Based Beef Taco
Ingredients:
1 ½ Cup plant-based ground beef crumble
1/8 Teaspoon salt
1/8 Teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 Teaspoon onion powder
1 Tablespoon chili powder (add more to taste)
2 Cups shredded lettuce
1 Tomato diced
½ Cup chopped onion
¼ Cup minced onion
Sour cream and/or shredded cheese to taste
Crunchy taco shells or soft flour tortillas
Hot sauce of your choice to taste
¼ Cup water
Instructions:
Preheat you oven for crispy tacos according to instructions on the box. Peel the onion. Mince ¼ cup and dice ½ cup. Rinse the lettuce and shred it. Rinse the tomato and dice it.
To make the seasonings mix, combine the salt, garlic powder, onion powder and chili powder.
Follow the directions on your plant-based ground beef package to brown it. Mine said to preheat a frying pan over medium heat. Add the beef crumble, minced onions and seasonings and brown the beef. This should take about five minutes.
Start baking your crispy taco shells according to the instructions on the box. If you want soft shell tacos, warm but don’t brown the flour tortillas in a pan preheated over ¼ heat.
If your plant-based ground beef crumble is dry, add ¼ cup water to moisten it. Taste the plant-based meat mixture to decide if you want to stir in any additional seasonings.
Place the plant-based ground beef in a crunchy or soft taco shell. Then add cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and the salsa or hot sauce of your choice.
